Why you should ditch spreadsheets for Notion inventory
Spreadsheets break. Notion databases hold up. Here's when it's worth making the switch.
I used Google Sheets for inventory. Then I had 20 tabs, broken formulas, and a co-worker who sorted a column wrong. Spreadsheets are fragile for collaborative inventory.
Notion databases offer relations, rollups, and formulas that stay intact when you filter or sort. You can link a product to its supplier, calculate total cost on hand, and update a status without overwriting someone else's work.
The catch? If you need real-time sync with Shopify, you'll need a third-party tool (like Zapier or Make). For weekly manual updates, Notion is faster and more reliable than a spreadsheet.
Start with a simple products database. Add a linked inventory database. Set up a rollup for stock levels. You'll wonder why you didn't switch sooner.
